....guys M&M has long been asking for changes in the Logan such as a shorter length and increased localisation.

But Renault never agreed to these alterations, claiming that the sedan was based on a global platform and it made no sense to make changes for just one market (India).Poor Renault dont know anything about our market

Why are these European automakers so slow to respond to market challenges? FIAT, too, lost the race and much of the goodwill that it had in the Indian market by bringing faded models here. It's only now that they are trying to woo the Indian consumer with latest models. But the damage has been done.

Logan doesnt seem that bad to me. I wouldnt buy it in the first place due to many major flaws including the power windows switch placement and Flat seats. Hope their sales improve. Would love to see the megane in India.

Logan’s story in Europe is not same as in India, it is doing moderately well in Europe. The reason is obvious Dacia Logan has been counted as one of the best economy car in Europe too.

....also the localisation content (the percentage of parts sourced locally) of the car, which is at 50 per cent, is much lower than competition and thereby has pushed up the final cost of the car.

Logan's failure according to me is completely related to pricing ....competing models in the market with aggressive price tags such as Maruti Swift Dzire and Tata Indigo CS and other models like Ford Ikon and Hyundai Accent that were available in a price bracket close to the Renault model put pressure on demand for Logan.

I think they have to break up from this jv and renault should take charge of reviving the brand logan with a new facelifted version which they unvailed in Europe...or they can trim the logans lengthto sub-four metres so that it qualifies as a small car in the Indian context. This would result in a lower excise levy of eight per cent, against the present 20 per cent, and make the car more affordable.

The other reason for Logan to fail is.. it is perceived now as a Taxi. There are 100s of Logan Taxis you can see on Chennai roads..
